Rare Facial Clefts

Abstract
In classifying the congenital clefts of the face and palate, various principles have been in use, i. e. embryologocal, geneticl, morphological, etc. from a practical point of view, a simple cissification satisfying the embryological, clinical, as well as genetical requirement: Group I ; primary palate, Group ff ; primary and secondary palate, Group IQ ; secondary palate alone and Group IV; Rare clefts.
Group IV; the rare, atypical clefts, stand numerically for a small part of the complete material, even of large series of clefts.
Fogh-Anderson reported in his monographs¢¥ on 48 patients within this category out of a series of 3988 cases of facial clefts during 30 yeare.
Buriaii repoted on 97 patient out of nearly 4_000 cases of facial clefts during 40 year, i. e. well over 2%.
Authors reported on 7 cases of rare, atypical cleft deformities out of a hospital materials off 496 cases of facial clefts during 10 years.
A survey will be given of this materials of rare facial clefts and their characteristics, as regards etiology and its treatment.
